Hearing Service available at JB Eyecare
Jack Brown Eyecare has been providing quality eye care for over 50 years in and around Edinburgh, but new for 2023, in a bid to further the health of our patients, we have introduced audiology services at both practices. Regular hearing tests are recommended for detecting any potential loss early on. Like eye disease, early detection and action can help mitigate further damage to the ears and protect hearing.

Photochromatic Lenses
Photochromatic Lenses are lenses that are clear indoors but darken and tint in response to sunlight. They are commonly referred to as ‘Transition Lenses’ which, like calling your Dyson the hoover, is actually a brand name. Transition Lenses are the most well-known and generally regarded as the best, hence their name being synonymous with photochromatic lenses. Other terms for these lenses are Reactions, Sun Sensors or Colormatics.

Astigmatism
For clear vision, an object needs to be completely focused at the back of the eye. Astigmatism is when the front of the eye (cornea) or the lens inside the eye are not completely spherical causing the light rays to fall unevenly onto the retina, causing blurred vision, eye strain, tired eyes or headaches. Astigmatism is very common with most people who wear glasses having a degree of Astigmatism correction built in to their prescription.

Night Lenses
Night Lenses work naturally overnight... just pop them in before sleep. At night the outer cells of your cornea 'naturally' shed and new cells grow into your custom fit lenses.
